Women’s health refers to the health of women, which differs from that of men in many unique ways. Here at Tapia Internal Medicine Clinic PLLC we offer well-women exams, including pap smears and breast exams; ordering mammograms and bone density scans; manage acute gynecological medical concerns; offer contraception counseling; and also hormone replacement therapy or HRT. Referrals to specialist are available as well when necessary.
We’re always happy to welcome new patients. Our commitment is to provide the best possible care to those we already serve while inviting new patients to experience the same high standard of service.
A well-woman exam is a complete physical that includes an examination of your reproductive organs. During the exam the physicians at Tapia Internal Medicine Clinic PLLC will obtain your vitals, including heart rate, blood pressure, height and weight. The provider will then examine your body from head to toe, looking into your eyes and ears, feeling your organs and checking your reflexes. This will also include a pelvic exam.
The Pap smear checks for abnormalities in the cells of your cervix. Abnormal cells may be a sign of cervical cancer. Detecting changes early may improve the success of treatment.
Clinical breast examinations can detect a lump in your breast and other changes that might require more testing. Breast exams are one of the most important early breast cancer screenings. If more testing is required your physician may order a mammogram. A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breast.

Osteoporosis is a common disease that is characterized by low bone mass, microarchitectural disruption, and skeletal fragility, resulting in an increased risk of fracture. The goal of bone density screening is to identify persons at increased risk of sustaining a low-trauma fracture who would benefit from intervention to minimize that risk.
A bone density scan helps assess your risk of osteoporosis—characterised by diminished bone mass and increased fracture risk. Your provider may recommend this if you have risk factors such as post-menopausal status, family history, or low bone density identified during your exam.
Your provider may recommend a mammogram based on your age, breast exam findings, family history, or personal risk factors. Mammograms help detect early changes in breast tissue, allowing timely evaluation and follow-up when needed.
